The Zumba Sensation
Several years ago, no one had ever heard about Zumba and now you can’t find a place that does not offer the classes. Zumba is known for being a fun Latin dance workout that will tone your body. This activity has taken over every area in the United States and if you haven’t tried it yet, you might want to jump on the bandwagon right now.
What You Can Expect During Your First Zumba Class
During my first Zumba class, I noticed that there was a lot of Latin music, as well as some American Hip Hop, the latest pop music and African Dance music. No matter which type of music was playing, it was loud. Each dance routine repeats itself, so it does not take long to learn each routine. It does not matter if you do not have any dancing knowledge, but it might be helpful to know at least the Tango and the Cha-Cha-Cha.
The instructor will guide you through all of the steps and it is very fast paced. Beginners should stand near the front of the room, so that they can see the instructor easily. New songs are added each week, so the class never gets boring.
Each dance routine repeats itself, so it does not take long to learn each routine.
Observing A Zumba Class
For anyone observing a Zumba class, they would hear loud drums beating and loud music. They would notice that all of the students are energized and that the instructors are always motivating the students. It is very common to hear the instructors say “Let’s Do It” and “Come on, let’s dance” during the class. It seems that every Zumba instructor has incredible energy levels and they make sure that every student is having the time of their lives.
My Thoughts About Zumba
Zumba is definitely a cardio workout, but I am not so sure that it tones and tightens abs and builds muscles in your arms and legs like it claims to. During the two and a half years that I did Zumba in my early 20’s, I felt that it might have defined my muscles a little, but nothing more than that. Since it is fun and exciting, I do look forward to every class.
Zumba might be the best thing for you if a super fun dance routine will get you out of the house and into a gym. For a lot of people, that alone is enough of a reason to try this new fitness craze.
